Warning! "Free"Pianos can be costly!
Many people are offered an old piano for free if they will just come and get it. You should be aware that you may encounter repair issues that end up costing many hundreds of dollars!
Some older pianos have repairs that are quite extensive and the cost may not be warranted given the resale value of the piano. That said, it is possible that the piano only requires a tuning or some minor repairs.
When in doubt, we recommend contacting us for an appraisal and estimate.
An appraisal will provide you with information about the condition of the piano's soundboard, ribs, bridges, pin block, strings, pedal system, keys, finish and overall case integrity, along with the components of the action which is the mechanical system that allows a piano to be played.
This information can then be used to provide an estimate of the cost of any repairs that may be necessary or desired.
